Glossa is a Greek word for tongues which means a language, a different foreign tongue. Speaking in tongue is praying in a different foreign language.
In the last days, heavenly and earthy realms will become one.
2 Corinthians 12:3- 4 says, “And I know that this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows—was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell.”
Genesis 11:1, 9 says, “Now the whole world had one language and a common speech…That is why it was called Babel—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.”
Mark 16:17 -19 says, “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he has taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.”
Acts 1:8; 2:4 says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth… All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”
The ultimate purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to make you sons and daughters of God.
Romans 8: 14, 15 say, “Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship (adoption), and by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Why is it so important to speak in tongue? Because…
- It’s like an umbilical cord that connects us to heaven, to God.
Proverbs 1:23 says, “If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you.”
Isaiah 44:3 says, “For I will pour water to the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.”
Genesis 2:8 says, “Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.”
Revelation 22:1 says, “Then the angel showed me the river of water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb.”
John 7:37-39 says, “On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within. By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.”
1 Corinthians 2:12 -13 says, “We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.”
- Evidence of the indwelling Holy Spirit
Acts 2:4 says, “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”
Acts 19:6 says, “When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and theyspoke in tongues and prophesied.”
Acts 10:45 – 46 say, “The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even to the Gentiles for they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.”

John 14: 16says, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.”
Acts 15: 26says, “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about it.”
- Enables us to offer pure worship to God
1 Corinthians 14: 15say, “So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.”
Acts 10: 46say, “For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.”
Songs are given in the Spirit without limitation of human language but pure language of the Spirit.
- Edifies and builds us up – you’ll accelerate in your spiritual growth
1 Corinthians 14:4 says, “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.”
At least you pray in the spirit for 3 hours a day.
- It refreshes you – Isaiah 28:11, 12 says, “Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to His people, to whom He said, ‘This is the resting place, let the weary rest’; and , ‘This is the place of repose’ —but they would not listen.”
- Grows your faith – Jude 1:20 say, “But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.”
- Enables you to talk with God directly
Amos 3:8 says, “The lion has roared—who will not fear? The Sovereign Lord has spoken—who can but prophesy?” If you dream of a lion, will you rebuke it? Lion symbolizes God but it could also symbolize the enemy, the devil.
- Increase Spiritual Sensitivity to the Spirit of God and spiritual realm.
1 Corinthians 2:9 -11 say, “However as is it written: ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
When you speak in tongue, two things happen simultaneously. Your spirit-man reaches deep into you and searches all things insides you and mix the real innermost in your life known to God.Your Spirit man really know what you really needs in your life, not what you want.
- Enables you to know the will of God
Romans 8: 27 says, “And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.”
We thought we know how to pray but we really don’t know how to pray…so ask the Holy Spirit to help you and you pray together.
2 Chronicles 20:20 says, “Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, ‘Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.”
Genesis 28: 12, 13 says, “He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the Lord and said, ‘I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying.”
The Holy Spirit is the coordinator
Matthew 3: 16says, “As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.”
Luke 3: 22says, “and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove.”
Acts 1: 2 says, “until the day He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.”
6 Levels of praying in unknown tongues: 3 of them are earthly and 3 of them are heavenly
- Stammering tongues
Isaiah 32:4 says, “The mind of the rash will know and understand, and the stammering tongue will be fluent and clear.”
- Pure language – the stammering tongue become a pure language
Matthew 5: 48say, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
“After speaking in tongues continuously for seven hours while fasting for seven days, the Lord appeared to me. With Him He gave me a preaching and drawing revelation knowledge.” (Sadhu)
- Groaning in the Spirit – Romans 8: 26says, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”
The Holy Spirit and you becomes partner. It is a pure and high level of intercession.
- Tongues of angels
1 Corinthians 13:1 says, “If I speak in tongues of men and of angels…”

Have you experience speaking in different language and then suddenly change to another foreign language like you’ve spoken many languages at a time? What is that? It’s a tongue of angels. You’ll know that they come and stand with you if it happened.
Angels have their own languages. The shortcut to have the presence of angels with you is to build a life of prayer. Angels love a prayerful person like Daniel. He prays day and night to the Most High God.
Daniel 10:11 says, “He (the angel) said, ‘Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.’ And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.”
- Languages spoken in heaven
2 Corinthians 12:4 says, “—was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell.”
Revelation 10:3 says, “…and he gave a loud shout like the roar of the lion.”
Revelation 4:1,8say, “After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this. . . each of the living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is to come.”
Revelation 5:13 says, “Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!’”
Revelation 6:6 says, “Then I heard what sounded like voice among the four living creatures, saying, ‘A quart of wheat for a day’s wages, and three quarts of barley for a day’s wages and do not damage the oil and the lamp.”
No two people’s language is the same in heaven. There are so many languages in heaven.
- The language that God himself speak in heaven
It’s a totally different language from others.
Isaiah 28:11 says, “Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to His people.”
Daniel 5:5-28 says, “Suddenly the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his knees knocked together and his legs gave way. The king called out for the enchanters, astrologers and diviners to be brought and said to these wise men of Babylon, ‘Whoever reads this writing and tells me what it means will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck, and he will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom. Then all the king’s wise men came in, but they could not read the writing or tell the king what it meant. So king Belshazzar became even more terrified and his face grew more pale. His nobles were baffled.
The queen, hearing the voices of the king and his nobles, came into the banquet hall. ‘O king, live forever!,’ she said. ‘Don’t be alarmed! Don’t look so pale! There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods. King Nebuchadnezzar your father—your father the king, I say —appointed him chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners. This man Daniel whom the king called Belteshazzar, was found to have a keen mind and knowledge and understanding, and also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles and solve difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.’
So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, ‘Are you Daniel, one of the exiles of my father the king brought from Judah? I have heard that the spirit of the gods is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom. The wise men and enchanters were brought before me to read this writing and tell me what it means, but they could not explain it. Now I have heard that you are able to give interpretations and to solve difficult problems. If you can read this writing and tell me what it means, you will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around your neck, and you will be made the third highest ruler in the kingdom.’
Then Daniel answered the king, ‘You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the writing for the king and tell him what it means. O king, the Most High God gave your father Nebuchadnezzar sovereignty and greatness and glory and splendor. Because of the high position he gave him, all the peoples and nations and men of every language dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death; those he wanted to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humbled, he humbled. But when his heart became arrogant and hardened with pride, he was deposed from his royal throne and stripped of his glory. He was driven away from people and given the mind of an animal; he lived with the wild donkeys and ate grass like cattle; and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he acknowledged that the Most High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and sets over them anyone he wishes. But you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this. Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praise the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. Therefore he sent the hand that wrote the inscription.
This is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN
This is what these words mean: MENE: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
TEKEL: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
PERES (the singular of PARSIN): Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”
When you see a vision or have a dream, don’t just use your mind to interpret but ask God and pray. Ask God for an interpretation like what Daniel did as he said, “God had spoken in His own language.”
These are the 6 levels of tongue in the earthly realm and the heavenly realm. Then heaven and earth will become one.
Why is it so important for you to build a life of praying in the spirit?
It’s because when the final outpouring is poured out to the church, the earth is going to experience a great flurry of angelic activity. We’ll walk together with clouds of witnesses. It’ll be common for us to talk with angels. In addition,angels are in the King’s seat. If you are in the King’s seat, you must then speak their (angels) language.
Daniel 1:4 says, “young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king’s palace. He was to teach them the language and the literature of the Babylonians.”
Finally, the very reason why we must speak in tongues is for us to “Walk with God” like how Enoch, Abraham and Moses walk with God.
We are hot (with the fire of God) that the unclean spirits can not withstand.
