the most important treasure left

Dawn of April 14, 2014, I dreamed of:

In my dream, we transfer dwelling with my mom and sister through an ocean vessel from Davao to Cebu. It was not a successful one in some ways because we almost lost all our properties along the way. I saw our paintings, furniture and other stuff left soaked because of the waves tossing the ship. The ship was not safe for cargo since it was loaded in an open space without roof and safety measures so most of our belongings fell and were swallowed in an open sea.

When we reached ashore, I checked the ship. I’m the only one who noticed the great loss of property because everyone was busy. Seeing me, the master bed jumped off from the ship and so I pulled it over to save it. The bed is so significant for me to save. I saw other stuff tossed on their post but I accepted the fact that we are losing them contented with the single bed I kept for ourselves safe.

Thoughts to ponder: The bed represents rest. Our God is our rest. In Him we find rest if we only surrender all our loads and burdens in His hand. Let us allow God to do its total healing in our lives by totally surrendering our lives to Him.

READ Psalms 23

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul,

He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

2 Corinthians 12: 9, 10 says, “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That’s why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

While on the other ship, I and my sister were fixing something. Then I notice a green creature, a sea merman playing with the plastic container I just threw. He looked like a fetus by its size. I screamed and ran away. I was so discomforted. However, my sister befriends him. As I was trying to throw him out, I found out that his body is so delicate made of plastic cellophane. He can read my mind and said, “How could you ask question and then not believe the answer?”

Thoughts to ponder: I don’t see the event or the situation as significant as the question asked by that green creature.

Hebrews 11:1, 6 say, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see…and since without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

Hebrews 3: 12-19 says, “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you maybe hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion. . . so we see that they were not able to enter because of their unbelief.”

We kept on our voyage. Suddenly, a huge colourful ship appeared right before our very eyes. It has words written on its body that I hardly remembered. Our voyage was so exciting. Big waves were everywhere until we saw an island which so amazed us.

Thoughts to ponder: In our journey, the road that we walked on may not be the same road every day. Sometimes, it’s smooth, other timesit’s bumpy and full of thorns or stones that stumble us, but take courage and persevere for in our journey, we’re not alone. We have an invisible and intangible companion that walks with us no matter how far or hard our journey is and helps us in times we get tired, holds us up so that we’ll find rest in His presence and the moment our rest is complete, we may be stronger than before to continue the journey with Him. That invisible and intangible companion isour Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:28-29 says, “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His son.”

Galatians 6: 9 says, “Let us not be weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

I was in the park. I saw my former workmates but they no longer recognize me. There was a beautiful garden inside full of flowers of different varieties and colours. I was walking along with it. I was even stepping, tramping my feet. Then I ran towards the open field where I saw some cut weeds and dried leaves purposely collected to make the soil fertile. I asked myself, “Why would they put those dried leaves and thrashes over those healthy grasses and flowers if they wanted to make that soil fertile?” In my opinion, the healthy plants get damaged if they’d be carried that way, just like a single rotten tomato could spoil all the good tomatoes in the basket.

Thoughts to ponder:

Matthew 9: 16-17 says, “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

2 Corinthians 6: 14-17 says, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said, ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. Therefore come out from them and be separate,’ says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”

I was confronted by a Muslim guy. He tried to trick me to find out my faith. I was a little afraid knowing that Christians are killed in their territory but before I could answer, I woke up from sleep.

Thoughts to ponder:

Matthew 10: 34- 39 The Lord says, “Do not suppose that I come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but sword. For I have come to turn a ‘man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household,’ Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

Matthew 24: 9 -13, Jesus says, “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed…nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom…then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Who rescues and listens to you?

Dawn of April 1, 2014 Idreamed of three different events —comets, beasts and cat turns mad and the hanky.

I was outside in an open space one night looking up to the sky when suddenly a shooting star appeared in the sky. I wasexcited to wish. It happened with a blink of an eye but still I was able to wish. Its tails were purple, gold, white and silver.

Another one appeared. It’s so large and the moment I wished, its tail grew larger. The third one appeared which also grew larger and travelled for more than five seconds. What amazed me was when it formed the image of Jesus with His two open arms as if rejoicing at my wish before it disappeared. And then another one, followed by another with the same tail and Jesus’ image and I kept wishing and the shooting star travelled vertically in the horizon from right to left forming an imageof Jesus at the end of its tail with His open arms before it disappeared. I can’t wish any longer. I felt guilty because I kept repeating the same wish so I thought I will let the Lord do His will. Anyway, He knows what’s best for me.

Thoughts to ponder: I can’t grasp the mystery of this dream. One thing I felt is I was comforted. God is willing and patiently listening to all our prayers.

Isaiah 65: 24, The Lord says, “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.”

Two beasts…

Chasing us in different location in the jungle, we kept running and thinking ways to get rid of the two beasts until we planned how to kill them. There were two platforms made outside the building in an open space. At the far end of the jungle, a woman which has a power to even fly helped us. She made the three large bamboo poles bow. These bamboos were long and large enough to destroy anything. They were stretched and yet weren’t pulled out from the ground. They were strongly grounded. Then the woman released each of the poles one after another with much ease as if they’re too light when in fact, they’re so large and heavy. They’re even larger than her. The width of each pole is almost wider than her waistline. After she touched and released each bamboo poles, which was as elastic and strong as grand canoe from battleships, it hit the farthest end of the jungle and reached the area where the two platforms were turned upside and some men who were there got injured and some others almost died. The platform stood like a wall after it erected.

The two beast wasn’t killed but it triggered another chasing and running on our part—the beast chasing us and we were running again with our feet for our lives. This continued when the sun stopped to rise. There was no more day light. The night was so long.

Last scene and setting was in the afternoon in an open area near the building. We were survivors, few of us and we’re carefully planning how to escape from those beasts. There was an old woman so we taught we could let her go first. While she was approaching a slightly opened gate, the beast found her. And we were alarmed. Before they could harm her, I ran towards her trying to save her when a white bear appeared, then a black one. The white bear started to chase me and I run. While running, I wished I could both be smaller so that beast could not see me or even bigger, bigger than their size so that I could easily attacked them and win.  Otherwise, I wished to be invisible so that I could advance and fought without them seeing me.

Thoughts to ponder: Beasts in fairy-tale stories are not always monstrous and frightening. Unlike others, Cinderella had been oppressed by the beasts that represent the antagonist character of her cruel stepmom and stepsisters. Every beast in a story has bad characters likethe jealous witch stepmother of Snow White and the selfish witch who stole and hides Rapunzel on the tower.  In real life, we admit, we also had created our own beast—the antagonist character that are opposing to us and are giving us the pain in the neck or thorn in the throat when we think we are the main character or protagonist of our own story. But did we not wonder, what if they also think the same? Don’t you think they weren’t labelling us as their antagonist?

Ephesians 6: 11-12 says, “Put on all the armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the power of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

A cat turns mad and the hanky…

I was inside our house when suddenly a cat attacks me and was about to swallow my fist when my brown hanky appeared from nowhere and covered my fist. It happened so fast. I felt the slight pain but miraculously I was not injured. I literally saw my fist inside the mouth of the cat which turned into beast but I was able to take it back unharmed. Thanks to the hanky that totally covered my hand and I was protected.

Thoughts to ponder: While I was pondering the meaning of that dream asking the Holy Spirit to give me its meaning, I thought of the Bible. Why not? It is the living Word of God. It’s our shield against the devil’s schemes.

Ephesians 6: 13-18 says, “Therefore put on all the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of Salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

See, how we could use the Word of God which actually was God himself to battle against the devil!

Psalms 91:2,3, 13, 10 says,

“I will say of the Lord, You are my defender and protector. You are my God, in you I trust

Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.

You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

Then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.”

Spiritual famine and devotion

Today at 2 in the morning, I woke up from a dream. It was a plague or famine in the spirit. Then I saw the words “Psalms 37” clearly flashing as in a widescreen. Next, I was amazingly reciting the verses though I hadn’t any copy. It seemed the Holy Spirit was prompting my lips to recite Psalms 37:1-4. I could have had finished the whole chapter but I was awakened. And then I prayed. Sooner I realized that I was praying and was fully back to sanity, I pondered. I asked the Lord, “What is it?” So I went to my room and grabbed my Bible to check the Scripture to open Psalms 37. I read it aloud three times and then observed the principle, law, promise, if there’s any. I tried to get back to sleep but I couldn’t; not until 4 the morning and dreamt again. This time was different. There’s a voice telling me that, “In your house, one is sharing or speaking about Christ, then another, and another one which is good that you are sharing Christ with one another as believers. But, it would be better if you would go out.”

When we’re having our discipleship in the church after the first session of our Sunday service, I was enlightened and led by that dream I have had. The dream coincided with our topic.

Psalms 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

The candle and the lamp if not lit will not glow by its own. It must have the oil.

Our heart is the storehouse of the power of the life of Jesus.

Our mind is the storehouse of the power of the light of Jesus.

Light means understanding and the Holy Spirit gives life to the light for us to understand the word of God. There are many scholars, theologians and philosophers of the world evangelizing not the logus or living word of God but only with head knowledge. If we have the seed of Christ perfect love, we have overcome the world. READ: John 3:1-7 saying, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe.

Also,2 Corinthians 3:6 says, “He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

Amos 8:11 says, “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land—not a famine of food or a thirst of water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.”

The infallible truths when planted will reap goodness.

Devotion is the oil to spread or share the gospel / word of God through cell group (discipleship).

Devotion could be done by applying the principle of SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer)

For example:

a. SCRIPTURE- contains the text e.g. 2 Peter 1:1-4 with the title “Making One’s Calling and Election Sure” and the key verse.

2 Peter 1:1-4 says, “Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:

2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ our Lord.

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.

4 Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”

Here the key verse is 3 (2 Peter 1:3)

b. OBSERVATION is done by observing the key verse if there’s principle, law, promise, warning…

Here the observation is “If we have the full knowledge of Him (relationship knowledge), we’ll receive His divine power, godliness, glory, precious promises (His mysteries) and be protected from the corruption of the world by evil desires.”

Also, in your OBSERVATION from verse 4, you’ll discuss the difference between godliness, humanist and worldliness

godliness means being a spiritual man because God is spirit and so we must worship Him in spirit and in truth; worldliness means being  materialist; and humanist means being soulist.

Here your application from the text is “Are you sure you’re worthy as one of God’s chosen people? Are you worthy of His calling? (election sure)

d. PRAYER – in your prayer you can also include other text or verses like based from 2 Peter 1:1-4, you can use Revelation 1:18 and Matthew 10:28, 29-32to be followed by your personal prayer based on the SCRIPTURE, OBSERVATION and APPLICATION principles of Devotion.

Revelation 1:18 says, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”

Matthew 10:28, 29-32 “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge Him before my Father in heaven.”
