Fisherman or fishers of men?

18As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” 20And at once they left their nets and followed Him.… (Matthew 4:18-20)

The cleanest water in the earth| Where can we find the most purified water?

The cleanest water in the earth| Where can we find the most purified water?

Today at dawn I dreamed about me and my sister. In my dream, we were planning to escape somewhere through a secret route or passage. We passed through a bridge. The bridge seemed strong on the outside but weak in the inside. Under the bridge was a clear water. In the middle of the bridge, were big rocks. Each rock represented our choices. Between them were holes where we can use to dive or jump into the water.

My sister, without second thoughts, jumped into the crystal-clear water. I was surprised. I knew my sister was quick at decision-making that I often call her “risky” or “risk-taker”.

She was soaked when I asked her, “Is the water deep?”

“No, it’s only neck-deep,” she said reassuring and inviting me to jump in.

I trusted her and though I was in doubt whether to jump or not, it seemed my being so cautious and careful at decision making was replaced by my sister’s risky character when I jumped through another hole into the water. I was also surprised by my quick decision.

It happened in few seconds and I found out that the water I landed was not neck-deep. In fact, it was more than 9 feet deep!

My mind reminded me that I know how to float so I must not panic. “This is far from me drowning. I won’t because I’m brave!” I tried to ease my worry by speaking positive words to myself.

However, my human ability was replaced by a supernatural occurrence. I saw a light and a voice telling me, “Be still, I will take care of you. You only have to surrender to Me.”

I know that was the voice of God. Right then, a little hope was developed inside of me. I closed my eyes, my mind and heart got peace. My body got lighter and lighter. I let the water embraced me. I did not wrestle to it.

I smiled knowing God can rescue me. Suddenly, my body started to rise up as I was guided to flap my legs. I looked up and could see that I was getting closer to the water’s surface. I couldn’t believe I was rescued from death.

The Holy Spirit then showed me a vision. It was me when I jumped into the water until I reached on the surface. It’s like a recorded video clip of what happened to me. In the vision, I saw how quick it happened, just few seconds. Yet, when I was underneath the water, it’s seemed that the time was so slow.

Then He told me, “Unlike Lucifer when he fell, when a man falls, no matter how low he has fallen, he will rise up. The lower you fall, the higher you will rise.”

When I heard this, I cried. I felt the awesome, immeasurable and unconditional love of God…the love that I don’t deserve.

Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 3:24-26, “and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of His blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26 he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

WISDOM comes from GOD:

Here’s the wisdom (or meaning) of my dream. The bridge is our faith. It might look strong in the outside but it will be proven when trials come. One might show he or she is brave and have a strong faith but the trials could reveal how strong or weak he or she is.

The water is for cleansing. The water is the working power of the Holy Spirit. The stone symbolizes stubbornness.

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws (Ezekiel 36:25-27 NIV).

But those who drink the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life (John 4:14 TNIV).

Then he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give water as a gift from the spring of the water of life (Revelation 21:6 NRSV).

We escaping in my dream means we wanted to escape the hardships we are facing by doing care-free or risky actions. Risky actions have consequences. Yet, God is faithful for rescuing us.  Today, while writing this, I was reminded of the accident that we fought with for our life with when I was 9 years old and my sister was 11 when we got drown in the sea. In that incident, my sister jumped into the water when the children swimming beyond the seawall said the water’s not deep. Then, I followed in. I imagined how deep it was and I wrestled against it because I wanted to get on the surface of the water and breath knowing I and my sister didn’t know how to swim. That was not a dream. It was the real incident that happened in our childhood. Good thing, we were rescued and didn’t die, yet drank a lot of saltwater and coughing. That incident created in me phobia for years that every time we go to the beach, I was afraid of drowning again. Yet I fought with it. In fact, it made me braver and stronger. Also, I learned how to swim.

Maybe the devil is reminding me to fear again through that dream, but God reminded me to have faith in Him because He rescued me and will do again and again because His hand is not short and His favor and love is unfailing.

All of us undergo hardships in our lives, instead of escaping or trying to ignore it, we have to face it and surrender it to God. Because He said in His words in Psalms 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

To God be the glory!
