We desperately need time to get away from the city, from the noise to hear the voice of God.
Micah 6:8 says, “The Lord has told us what is good. What He requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with our God.”
Genesis 12:1The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father’s home and go to a land that I am going to show you.”
Exodus 4:11The Lord said to him, “Who gives man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or dumb? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? It is I, the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 28: 1 says, “If you obey the Lord your God and faithfully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, he will make you greater than any other nation on earth.”
Matthew 7:21-23, 24-27 says, “Not anyone who calls me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants them to do. When the judgment Day comes, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord! In your name we spoke God’s message, by your name we drove out many demons and performed many miracles!’ Then I will say to them, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!’ So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, and the wind blew hard against the house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock. But anyone who hears these words of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded over, the wind blew hard againstthat house, and it fell. And what a terrifying fall that was!”
“…I never knew you…,” says the Lord
“Knew” in Hebrew means intimately
READ: James 1: 1 ; 2 Peter 1:1; Titus 1:1; Genesis 24:2-3,10; Leviticus4:8; Isaiah 50:4; 34:4
Exodus 21:2,3,6says, “If you buy a Hebrew slave, he shallserve you for six years. In the seventh year he is to be set free without having to pay anything. If he was unmarried when he became your slave, he is not to take a wife with him when he leaves; but if he was married when he became your slave, he may take his wife with him. Then his master shall take him to the place of worship. There he is to make him stand against the door or the doorpost and put a hole through his ear. Then he will be his slave for life.”
THE SPIRIT OF DEAFNESS
READ:Isaiah 35: 4 says,“Tell everyone who is discouraged, ‘Be strong and don’t be afraid! God is coming to your rescue, coming to punish your enemies.”
Mark 8:23says, “Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. After spitting on the man’s eyes, Jesus placed his hands on him and asked him, “Can you see anything?”
Matthew 11:20-23says, “The people in the towns where Jesus had performed most of his miracles did not turn from their sins, so he reproached those towns…”
Matthew 13: 15-16says, “Because their minds are dull, and they have stopped up their ears and have closed their eyes. Otherwise, their eyes would see, their ears would hear, their minds would understand, and they would turn to me, says God, and I would heal them. As for you, how fortunate you are! Your eyes would see and ears hear.”
If we refuse what God wants us to do, we will have an ear hard of hearing (spiritually) and eye hard of seeing (spiritually) until we arrive into spiritual death. If this happens, it requires repentance and fresh start. You must have a strong desire to hear the voice of God. It must be your quest.
“I will give water to the thirsty land and make streams flow on the dryground.”(Isaiah 44:3)
“Happyare those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires.”(Matthew 5:6)
Selective hearing is the work of the brain…
“And ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.”(Ephesians 1:17)
THE LANGUAGE OF HEAVEN
Hearing the voice of God requires us to learn the language of heaven. The language of heaven is more sophisticated. It involves and can be conveyed by feeling, colour, smell, mood, visions, and dreams. It’s far greater than words.
Reticular Activating System (words, feelings, pictures)…
“And the Lord said, ‘Now hear what I have to say! When there are prophets among you, I reveal myselfto them in visions and speak to them in dreams. It is different when I speak with my servant Moses; I have put him in charge of all my people Israel. So I speak to him face-to-face, clearly and not in riddles; he has even seen my form!”(Numbers 12: 6-8)
Prophets speak out of gifting either born with or imparted to them when they come to the kingdom so they can teach the average believers, who are not prophets, how to walk with God. It’s easier for them to work with it.
Our teaching here about this topic, however, is not about or working out of gifting but with our relationship with the Lord. Language of heaven is very diverse. We have to learn to recognise how God is speaking to us. Human language can be picked up by the mind to be passed to the heart.
“Jesus said to them, ‘The time and occasions are set by my Father’s own authority, and it is not for you to know when they will be.” (Acts 1:7)
“This, however, was bound to happen so that what is written in their Law may come true: ‘They hated me for no reason at all.’” (John 16:25)
“I do not call you servants any longer, because servants do not know what their master is doing. Instead, I call you friends, because I have told you everything I heard from my Father.”(John 15:15)
God can speak to us through the body, soul and spirit.
How can you be a friend with an invisible spirit? You have to learn to enter into His realm (spiritual realm).
“On the Lord’s Day the Spirit took control of me, and I heard a loud voice that sounded like a trumpet speaking behind me.”(Revelation 1:10)
“Whoever does not have the Spirit cannot receive the gifts that come from God’s Spirit. Such a person really does not understand them, and they seem to be nonsense, because their value can be judged only on a spiritual basis.”(1 Corinthians 2:14)
. . .
Science talks about a parallel universe. This is true somewhat in the realm of the spirit. Jesus walks in the heaven and on earth. He walks in two parallel dimensions.
“You do not believe me when I tell you about the things of this world; how will you ever believe me then when I tell you about the things of heaven? And no one has ever gone up to heaven except the Son of Man, who came down from heaven.” (John 3:12-13)
You have a constant access to the world of the spirit realm if you know how to perceive that.
“In our union with Christ Jesus he raised us up with Him to rule with Him in the heavenly world.” (Ephesians 2:6)
“Father! You have given them to me, and I want them to be with me where I am, so that they may see my glory, the glory you gave me; for you loved me before the world wasmade’, Jesus said”(John 17:24)
Learning to walk with God is to learn practising the presence of God. Conscious awareness of His presence takes focus, refocus and discipline. But SIN cuts us off from the presence of the Lord.
“If any of your descendants, while he is ritually unclean, comes near the sacred offerings which the people of Israel have dedicated to me, he can never again serve at the altar. This applies for all time to come. I am the Lord.”(Leviticus 22:3)
“Do not banish me from your presence; do not take your Holy Spirit away from me.” (Psalms 51:11)
Most people don’t recognise if God is talking to them because He talks in different ways.
THE LANGUAGE OF FEELING AND MOOD
Have you ever notice that sometimes it’s hard to convey what you feel? Our feelings are so intangible. Our words are not enough because they don’t convey pictures. We need pictures, sound, smell to convey the total scenario. In heaven, there’s a library with many books. Those books are not ordinary. They are about the universe, people’s lives in the old and new testaments of the bible and throughout history. One time when I was in heaven, I randomly pulled out one book which is about the life of an apostle in the early church. As I open it, all of my senseswas flooded by the incidence of that book not with written words but with images, feelings of that man, his emotion, struggle in his soul, smell and sound of the situation and the whole ambiance in that particular part of the story was flooded in my senses. That’s the language of heaven. There are many things that God can’t convey to us in words but in feelings.
“God’s spirit joins himself to our spirits to declare that we are God’s children.”(Romans 8:16)
A communication of a feeling…
We have to learn how to communicate through the sensation of our spirit man. We must feel how He feels. A spirit filled sensation feels like there’s an inner concern from our inner spirit that you didn’t started. It just appears inside of you.
“Go through the whole city ofJerusalem and put a mark on the forehead of everyone who is distressed and troubled because of all the disgusting things being done in the city.”(Ezekiel 9:4)
When you “sigh”, do you wonder why? What was the feeling behind that?
“And God, who sees into our hearts, knows what the thought of the Spirit is; because the Spirit pleads with God on behalf of his people and in accordance with his will.” (Romans 8:27)
Another feeling is “compassion”. This feeling triggered the miracle. It can open the way of power of God to flow.
Take note of your mood when you pray for a person. The power of that prayer is greatly increase if you pray that with feelings.
“As He saw the crowds, His heart was filled with pity for them, because they were worried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”(Matthew 9:36)
Spiritual power flows in a channel. If it’s not open, power can’t flow.
What is it that opens the door for the power of God to flow? Answer: feelings behind it like love or any strong feelings. Love can open the door, strong desire, faith…This is the sensation of the spirit that flows within our soul which is very strong.
Another is “grief”…
Grief is an essential feeling that we need to understand.
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit; for the Spirit is God’s mark of ownership on you, a guarantee that the Day will come when God will set you free. Get rid of all bitterness, passion and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort.” (Ephesians 4:30-31)
What grieves the Holy Spirit?
Anything that is contrary to the nature of God grieves the Holy Spirit.
“But as for you, Christ has poured out His Spirit on you. As long as his Spirit remains in you, you do not need anyone to teach you. For His Spirit teaches you about everything, and what He teaches is true, not false. Obey the Spirit’s teaching, then, and remain in union with Christ.”(1 John 2:27)
“Inner appointing”– to witness right and wrong
WHEN GOD KNOCKS ON YOUR DOOR
What would you do when God knocks on your door?
Door leads us somewhere into new experiences and dimensions. It’s an entry into a whole new world.
“Listen! I stand at the door and knock; if any hear my voice and open the door, I will come into their house and eat with them, and they will eat with me.” (Revelation 3:20)
If you open the door, open it and He’ll talk to you. You must hear the knock but how do we hear the knock? God uses many ways to get your attention. God often uses methods like He breaks your sleep during the night. You’ll wake up alert and began to sense the presence of God in the middle of the night. It can also be a song you hearor thinkthat you did not start then you’ll notice you start singing it. The message of the Lord is contained in the words of the song. It does not necessarily a Christian song or songs with Christian lyrics. Another is a fragrance of the Lord that you smell inside your room or when you’re walking in the street or anywhere which you picked up first but then immediately pass into your brain. Lastly, you’ll know that God is knocking on your door when you feel a sudden hunger to be with the Lord. This is a knock! So you have to open the door.
How would you respond?
Wake up. Wait. Ask, “What is it Lord?” like how Samuel asked when He was called by the Lord in the middle of the night. When you don’t, you miss it. Respond adequately.
“Asleep on my bed, night after night I dreamed of the one I love; I was looking for Him, but couldn’t find Him.”(Song of Solomon 3:1)
His feeling would be ours; His desires would be our desires–let this be your yearning.
“The Spirit has given us life; He must also control our lives.” (Galatians 5:25)
We must learn becoming friends with an invisible spirit and praying in the spirit. You must take time to pray in the spirit by speaking in unknown tongues because it builds up and strengthens you, your sensitivity to the spirit and revelation increases.
“Those who speak in strange tongues help only themselves, but those who proclaim God’s message help the whole church.” (1 Corinthians 14:4)
Sensitivity. . .
God uses many vessels. It could also be a word from our enemies so we have to be sensitive.
THE VOICE OF GOD
“When Abram was seventy-five years old, he started out from Haran, as the Lord had told him to do; and Lot went with him.” (Genesis 12:4)
“What gives life is God’s Spirit; human power is of no use at all.” (John 6:63)
“When you pray, do not use a lot of meaningless words, as the pagans do, who think that their gods will hear them because their prayers are long.” (Matthew 6:7)
When you pray, don’t use vain repetition.
“The weapons we use in our fight are not the world’s weapons but God’s powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments.” (2 Corinthians 10:4)
“Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God.”(1 Corinthians 6:19)
If you suddenly thought about something you didn’t start then you’ll know it’s the thought of the spirit within you talking to you.
How will you knowif it’s from God or from evil?
There’s personality behind every voice. How does it make you feel? Does it trouble you or bring you peace? Does it make you proud or humble?
Spontaneous thoughts have personalities behind them. Satan condemns, accuses, puts you down, destroys, but God builds up and encourages.
“In conclusion, my friends fill your mindswith those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honourable.” (Philippians 4:8)
The Holy Spirit can bring the past reminding you to bring something good in you, rebuilding. But if the devil brings the past, it condemns you, it makes you feel bad.
“And so people become enemies of God when they are controlled by their human nature; for they do not obey God’s law, and in fact they cannot obey it.” (Romans 8:7)
“What we have seen and heard we announce to you also, so that you will join with us in the fellowship that we have with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”(1 John 1:3)
To God be the glory!
